How do I know if my child needs speech therapy?

Every child develops at their own pace, but there are certain milestones that can guide whether an evaluation might be helpful. If your child is difficult to understand, has a limited vocabulary for their age, struggles to follow directions, or has difficulty with social interactions, it may be time to seek support.

The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) offers handouts related to developmental milestones that may be helpful. If you're unsure whether your child would be a good candidate for speech therapy, you can book a free, 15-minute phone consultation on our homepage.

Do you accept insurance? Do you offer any discounts or special rates?

Our practice is currently private-pay only, which means we do not accept private insurance or Medicaid at this time. However, we recognize that speech therapy is an important investment in your child’s development, and we strive to keep our services as accessible as possible.

We’re happy to provide a Superbill upon request, which you can submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement or use for FSA/HSA purposes. We also offer bi-weekly sessions for children who are a good fit for this model.

As a thank-you for supporting our small practice, we also offer a review incentive: after completing four speech therapy sessions, leave us a Google review and receive 10% off your subsequent four sessions. Just send a screenshot of your review via text or email. (Limit one review discount per client or family.)

What does a typical session look like?

Every session is thoughtfully tailored to your child’s unique needs, goals, and interests, so no two sessions will look exactly the same! We implement approaches such as play-based therapy and are well-versed in programs like StoryChamps and the Cycles Approach to Phonology, which support speech and language development in engaging and meaningful ways.

Sessions are offered in 30- or 40-minute blocks, depending on what best suits your child and your family’s schedule.
Parents are always welcome to sit in! In fact, we encourage parent participation to help reinforce skills at home. If you choose to join us in your home, we kindly request that other children be supervised and that any pets be secured before the session begins.

If you're unable to attend, no worries—we’ll provide a brief summary of what your child worked on, along with any tips or home practice suggestions, either in person, via a secure text, or email.
